Campaign Iowa State has added almost 600 new scholarships for Iowa State undergraduate and graduate students. This is crucial since tuition and fees continue to rise and the average debt load for Iowa State students stands at over $30,000.

Hixson Opportunity Awards

The Hixson Opportunity Awards is a need-based scholarship program that was established in 1995 by Christina Hixson to help students with the ability and desire to pursue a college degree but who face significant hurdles because of personal and financial hardships.

The scholarship at Iowa State is awarded to approximately 400 Iowa high school graduates each year. A recent gift by the Lied Foundation Trust through Hixson during Campaign Iowa State adds to the scholarship program and will endow program activities designed to promote the retention and success of students leadership and mentoring opportunities.
