State-of-the-art facilities help attract the best and brightest students and faculty and have a profound impact on their ability to excel. Campaign Iowa State has assisted in the funding of major academic and athletic building and renovation projects.

Hach Hall

On the northwest side of the Iowa State campus, Hach Hall is rising from the ground. The $74.5 million project is planned as a three-story, 135,000-square-foot-facility that will be dedicated to undergraduate teaching laboratories, student interaction space and research space for faculty, staff and graduate assistants. The state-of-art facility is critical to Iowa State’s continuing leadership role in chemistry.

Hach Hall is named in honor of Kathryn Hach Darrow’s late husband and Iowa State alumnus Clifford Hach, and the extended Hach family. Darrow was the lead donor to the project with a $10 million commitment.

Dr. W. Eugene and Linda Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center

The 108,000-square-foot Dr. W. Eugene and Linda Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center addition to the College of Veterinary Medicine increases space by 25 percent. The facility features equine and food animal diagnosis areas, treatment and surgery suites, patient wards, advanced imaging facilities, an intensive care unit, an isolation unit, and new patient entry, reception and waiting areas. The Lloyds made the lead gift for the new medical center.

The project is the first part of a two-phase expansion program that will significantly increase capabilities for the 32-year-old hospital. The second phase includes updating the spaces occupied by services that are relocating to the new facility.
