What we do:
We have a staff of about 100 students that are responsible for contacting roughly 130,000 ISU alumni and friends. In the 2007-2008 school-year, we raised more than $3.6 million in support of programs and initiatives at the university. Our PhoneCenter is nationally recognized as one of the most innovative and successful call centers in the country.
A position as a Student-Fundraiser is a great way to learn valuable communication skills, support ISU, and meet new friends. We offer a flexible schedule, on-campus location, and an exciting environment. Our Student-Fundraisers work as few as 12 hours each week and as many as 32 hours each week, and make their own schedules by choosing between our evening and weekend calling shifts.
Our shifts are scheduled:
- Monday-Friday 5:00-9:00 pm,
- Saturday 10-2 pm,
- Sunday 12:00-4:00 pm
- Sunday 5:00-9:00 pm.
Student-Fundraisers spend their shift contacting alumni, parents, and friends of Iowa State University to update records, extend invitations, thank donors, provide updates about the university, and request gifts to support ISU scholarships, faculty, and programs. Everyone gets a thorough orientation and training course to sharpen their communication skills and learn about university programs before they start calling. In addition, there are wonderful opportunities for advancement for students interested in management or marketing careers on our student management team.
